SUNDERLAND got the job done against Leeds by going through to the next round, but they were far from convincing against a struggling Championship team.
In fact, Sunderland rode their luck, especially in the second half and Leeds can count themselves unlucky not to earn at least a replay.
The one big positive was the performance of Patrick van Aanholt after a lengthy injury lay-off.
He even managed to be the goal-scoring hero, and his willingness to get forwards, gave Sunderland another dimension down the left flank.
His lightning pace is a massive bonus for a Sunderland team that can too often be slow and predictable when attacking.
