ONCE again. Sunderland got a favourable cup draw, when they were given a home tie against either Wolves or Fulham in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Whoever we face, it won’t have the same history and tradition behind it as our third round opponents Leeds, but it’s a very winnable home game against lower league opposition, and Gus Poyet will be happy with that.
Like Leeds, both teams are in the Championship, with Wolves just outside the play-off places, while Fulham, after being relegated last year, are struggling again, but whoever wins their replay tonight, Sunderland will be favourites and expected to win. Sunderland have a great chance of a decent cup run now. The draw has been kind, so they can’t afford to take the game lightly, or under-estimate the opposition, when they have been given such a great opportunity to make something of this season.
