The Black Cats suffered another setback in their promotion bid with a 2-1 defeat to Shrewsbury Town in midweek, but the manager has rung the changes ahead of today’s visit from Darren Moore’s in-form Rovers.

Lee Burge returns in between the sticks, while Conor McLaughlin, Dion Sanderson, and Callum McFadzean also return to the team.

Lynden Gooch is back in the starting XI too, with Luke O’Nien preferred to Grant Leadbitter in midfield.

January signings Jordan Jones and Jake Vokins are on the bench.

Here are some of the best reactions from supporters on Twitter:

@Kevsol tweeted: “An improvement from the last few line-ups, but still not good enough. Burge and McFadzean are accidents waiting to happen. Not an abundance of alternatives, just saying.”

@LiamShepard7 tweeted: “I hope Winchester comes back from his injury soon as I would definitely have preferred him to Scowen. I don't know why Jones isn't on the pitch. If we went back to 4-4-2 I would probably have Wyke with either Stewart or Maguire.”
