DANNY Rose anticipates a memorable campaign with Sunderland after signing on a season-long loan from Tottenham.
The England Under-21 international became the Black Cats’ fifth and final summer signing yesterday, and enthused: “I think it’s exciting times here, definitely.
“Take Adam Johnson – if you’re leaving City pretty much every team in the league would want you. For him to choose Sunderland speaks volumes.
“I worked with Louis (Saha) at Spurs last season and he’s a great finisher and a top man as well. I’m definitely excited to get going.”
The England under-21 international completed a deadline-day move to Wearside on Friday, joining on a season-long loan from Tottenham.
The decision to join Sunderland was an easy one for Rose, with veteran Tottenham keeper Brad Friedel backing Martin O’Neill, his former boss at Aston Villa.
Rose added to safc.com: “Brad played under Martin O’Neill for years at Aston Villa and had lots of positive things to say about him.
“I’m looking forward to him helping me develop as a player and me hopefully getting a run of games.
“I know a few people at Villa as well – when I heard of the interest from Sunderland I texted a few people and they said nothing but positive things.
“I’m still relatively young and there’s not many better managers to learn my trade from.”
