After a winless run of five matches in all competitions, Sunderland took the decision to part company with manager Phil Parkinson on Sunday.

The 52-year-old was tasked with succeeding where Jack Ross couldn’t by getting the Black Cats promoted out of League One, but after a little over 13 months at the helm, his side failed to ever really show the consistency and killer instinct needed to make that aspiration a reality.
