Sunderland are reported to be battling with Premier League rivals Norwich City for the signing of French striker Sebastien Haller.

The Black Cats will look to bolster their squad when the January transfer window opens, with more firepower and defensive reinforcements the priority.

But who is Haller? And what can he bring to the Stadium of Light? Here's everything you need to know about the Frenchman:

* Sebastien Haller is 21 years old, his birthday is June 22, 1994.

* The French targetman, born in Ris Orangis, stands at 6ft 2in tall.

* Haller started his career at F.C.O. Vigneux before going onto play as a youth for Brétigny Foot and then Auxerre, where he netted eight goals in 37 games in the senior side between 2012 and 2015.

* During his time at Auxerre, Haller spent a season on loan at FC Utrecht, scoring 11 goals during a successful 17-game loan spell.

* Haller comes very highly rated and is currently playing for FC Utrecht after making the permanent switch from French side Auxerre earlier this year.

* A scouting delegation from Sunderland took a closer look at the striker against Ajax at the weekend. He has scored 10 goals in 14 outings for the Dutch side this season.

* Haller was among Sunderland's targets during the summer, but they were unwilling to meet Utrecht's £6million asking price for the 21-year-old. Norwich City, also battling relegation, have now joined the race to sign him.

* He has an impressive overall record with the Dutch side, having scored 22 goals in 28 games in only 11 months.

* In the summer, the Dutch supporters voted for Haller as the winner of the Di Tommaso Trophy 2015 - Utrecht’s player of the year award.

* Utrecht manager Wilco van Schaik fears he won’t be able to stop the sensational young striker from moving to a bigger club.

He said: "The boy is absolutely sensational. We have him under contract for another three years, but anyone can see that he is doing brilliantly."

* He has international experience having represented France at Under-16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and Under-21 level, with a strong track record in front of goal.

He played with the Under-17 team at the 2011 FIFA Under-17 World Cup.
