GUS Poyet is full of praise for this weekend’s opponents Manchester City.
But he says Sunderland must make best use of home advantage on Sunday hoping to inflict a fourth straight home defeat on their super-rich opponents.
“You look at Manchester City and you don’t know where to begin when it comes to assessing their quality,” he said.
“You look at Yaya Toure for example, who is very difficult to play against because he’s so big and powerful but has such skill and such versatility - there are so many ways he can hurt you.
“You just have to hope the day you play against him, he has an off-day.
“Then there is Sergio Aguero, Premier League Player of the Month, and such a special talent, as are so many of his teams mates.
“They have everything and I could go through the whole team and praise them in terms of technique and ability and intelligence but that is not my job.
“My job is about stopping them and hopefully getting all three points this weekend.”
If there is a glimmer of hope for Sunderland this weekend, it is that City have been unimpressive on their travels so far in the current campaign.
“Home form is vital for teams at the bottom as well as the top and with the support we are getting from the crowd we have a chance,” Poyet noted.
“But we need to believe in what we do, we need to concentrate, to do our best.
“It’s about winning.
“You can play any type of game but it’s about doing the basics, making sure you take care of the ball and look at the opposition to see how you might damage them.”
