SUNDERLAND reporter Chris Young gives his verdict after the Black Cats’ stalemate against Leicester City.
Pantilimon 6 - Got away with one in stoppage time, but had dealt well with Leicester’s set piece threat.
Jones 6 - Got forward early on, but couldn’t maintain that. Forced off with a thigh injury.
COATES 8 - Continues to make the most of his chance and is growing in confidence.
O’Shea 7 - Back in the side and more like his old self. Handled Ulloa and Vardy effectively.
Van Aanholt 6 - Unusually hesitant in getting forwards and Sunderland’s width suffered.
Cattermole 6 - Began in imperious fashion, yet seemed to be trying too hard as game wore on.
Larsson 7 - Several vital interceptions and almost netted with an excellent free-kick.
Bridcutt 5 - Got his first start under Advocaat, but didn’t convince he can fill the midfield void.
Wickham 5 - Touch was poor throughout and Leicester shackled him out wide.
Defoe 6 - Worked his socks off, yet suffered from familiar story of lack of service.
Graham 6 - Had Sunderland’s best chance of the game, but it was a deceptively difficult one.
SUBS: Johnson (for Bridcutt) 7 - Injected some creativity into proceedings.
Fletcher (for Graham) 6 - Only had scraps to feed upon.
Reveillere (for Jones) - On too late to influence proceedings.
LEICESTER: Schmeichel 7, Wasilewski 7, Huth 7, Morgan 7, Albrighton 7, Cambiasso, 7 Mahrez 6 (Drinkwater 6), King 6, Schlupp 6, Ulloa 6 (Kramaric 5), Vardy 6.
