ARSENAL will be going all out to secure third place in the Premier League when they take on Sunderland this Wednesday.

That is the view of Aaron Ramsey and Nacho Monreal, who insist the upcoming FA Cup final is not proving a distraction as the league campaign comes to a close.

They will be fighting for their lives and we have two home games and we want to finish strong before the FA Cup final.

Sunderland, three points above the drop zone, need just a point to secure their top flight status before the season finale at Chelsea on Sunday.

But Ramsey said Arsene Wenger’s squad feels confident about finishing third, following their 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

That result meant Arsenal are two points ahead of United going into the final week of the season, with the Gunners game in hand against Sunderland at the Emirates on Wednesday.

Ramsey is adamant the focus of the Arsenal players is on the visit of the Black Cats - and taking all three points.

“It is another important game [against Sunderland],” said the Welsh international midfielder.

“They will be fighting for their lives and we have two home games and we want to finish strong before the FA Cup final.

“I think we feel quite confident about [finishing in third].

“It was important to get a result and hopefully we can go into the remaining games and win them both before the big one.”

Meanwhile, defender Monreal said: “We are lucky because we have two FA Cup finals in a row and we want to win the final, it will be a difficult game and I hope that we do it.

“But before then we have to win another game to finish in the top three and after we will think about the FA Cup.”
