Phil Parkinson has confirmed that he won’t have to sell to buy this month, but is still set to move some individuals on as he looks to make his mark on the Black Cats’ squad.
So, who could leave this month? We take a look at NINE players who could be set to depart Wearside:
1. Jon McLaughlin
The stopper is yet to agree a new contract with the Black Cats, and has now entered the final six months of his deal. With his future uncertain, could Sunderland be tempted to cash in on McLaughlin? He's likely have no shortage of suitors were that to be the case. Photo: Frank Reid
2. Dylan McGeouch
McGeouch's departure this month looks inevitable, as he remains on the periphery on the squad having seen his chances limited under Phil Parkinson. A return to Scotland could be an option, with Aberdeen believed to be keen. Photo: FRANK REID
3. Tom Flanagan
Similarly to McLaughlin, Flanagan sees his current terms expire in the summer and there is no sign of a new deal on the horizon. A January exit may well suit both parties. Photo: COPYRIGHT (C) FRANK REID 20187
4. Aiden McGeady
Parkinson has told the winger he is free to leave this month, and a move elsewhere looks inevitable. Championship sides Hull, Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough have been linked McGeady, while MLS clubs also hold an interest. Photo: FRANK REID
