Italy and Turkey will play the first match of the competition on Friday, June 11, as 24 teams prepare for their opening fixtures.
England's opening match will come against Croatia at Wembley on Sunday, June 13, while home nations Scotland and Wales will also be involved.
Six groups of four teams will be cut down to a knockout draw of 16 teams, leading up to the final, also at Wembley, on Sunday, June 11.
While none of Sunderland’s players will be representing their countries at this year’s tournament, there are several former Black Cats players who have been called up.
Some of the names may surprise you, after leaving the Stadium of Light at different stages of their careers.
Here are nine former Sunderland players who will be at the tournament this summer.
1. Jordan Pickford - England

2. Jordan Henderson - England

3. Patrick van Aanholt - Netherlands
