Dick Advocaat is confident further reinforcements are on the way, with French international Yann M’Vila on Sunderland’s radar.
Reports in France earlier today indicated that M’Vila was in advanced talks with Sunderland and he is understood to be a player that the Black Cats have been watching extremely closely.
M’Vila, who has previously been targeted by Liverpool, is in dispute with Ruben Kazan and is looking for a new club - two-and-a-half years after moving to Russia in a £10million deal.
Advocaat has been looking for another “one or two” additions to the squad, to complement the four fresh faces who have already arrived at the Stadium of Light this summer.
And speaking after today’s final pre-season encounter at Hannover 96, the Sunderland head coach was optimistic about a transfer breakthrough before the end of the window.
Advocaat said: “Will there be further arrivals? Wait and see.
“We are still working on that.
“If we can get something else done, I am sure we will do it.
“If we cannot, we will do it with this group.
“But I’m still very hopeful that things will happen this month.”
