Broadhead was then forced off with an injury before half-time and was replaced by Jack Clarke.

Sunderland will now face Sheffield Wednesday in the play-offs.

That will be the playmaker’s last involvement. Dan Neil is coming on.

Stockton is booked after elbowing Batth in the face.

‘You don’t know what you’re doing’ chant some of the home fans at the referee.

Stewart makes way.

Makes sense to give him a rest for the play-offs.

Plymouth are now 4-0 down against MK Dons so it looks like Sunderland are safe.

71’ SUBSTITUTION: ON: Diagouraga - OFF: Fane

Second change for the hosts.

70’ Roberts goes close

The intensity has just gone back up a level in the last few minutes.

A neat move from Sunderland saw Pritchard set up Roberts at a right angle but Carson saved the latter’s effort.

67’ SUBSTITUTION: ON: Ayunga - OFF: Gnahoua

First change of th match for Morecambe.

Wildig has also been booked for the hosts.

61’ More intent from Sunderland

There hasn’t been much action in front of goal in this second half but Clarke raised the tempo there.

A surging run from the wideman down the right was followed by a low cross for Stewart, yet the latter’s shot was deflected wide.

57 Both teams where they need to be

As things stand, Morecambe are safe and Sunderland are in the play-offs.

53’ Roberts and Clark switch

During a pause in play Neil called for Roberts and Clarke to switch positions.

Clarke is now operating as a left wing-back with Roberts in a more free role off Stewart.

48’ Good positioning from Wright

More pressure from Morecambe at the start of the second half after Phillips broke forward from midfield and delivered a cross into the box.

Wright was well placed to cut out the delivery.
