MIDDLESBROUGH have emerged as deadline day rivals for Sunderland target Danny Graham.
As the Echo reveals today, Sunderland agreed a fee with Swansea for Graham yesterday and the 27-year-old flew to the North East last night for planned talks this morning.
But reports have suggested Boro have also had an offer around the £5million mark accepted for their former frontman, who was released from the Riverside in the summer of 2007.
Sunderland are still firm favourites to sign Graham though, not least because the Black Cats offer the chance for the Gateshead-born striker to remain in the Premier League.
Graham has always been keen to play at the highest level possible after rejecting a larger offer from League One Huddersfield to sign for Championship Watford in 2009.
He has been eager to join Sunderland throughout the transfer window and he is expected to become the Black Cats’ third January acquisition before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
