Charlie Wyke was the man of the hour, netting all three goals in a clinical display.

The forward struck his first after just seven minutes before wrapping up the points with a late double to claim the match ball. The hat-trick takes the 28-year-old’s goal tally to 13 across all competitions this season.

The result represents a first win in the league since the Black Cats beat Lincoln City 4-0 over a month ago, and lifted them into the play-off places prior to the completion of today’s 3pm kick-offs in the third tier.
