KEVIN Ball’s development squad let slip a two-goal lead at the Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground to leave themselves still searching for a first win of 2013 in six attempts.

January-transfer window signing Kader Mangane played the full 90 minutes but had little to do in an opening first half Sunderland dominated but could not get goals from.

Mikael Mandron and Ryan Noble were chief culprits but the French teenager scored an eye-catching volley in the 49th minute to put Sunderland ahead and the lead was doubled 10 minutes later when Noble forced an own goal from Tyias Browning.

Sunderland had plenty more chances in the game but Everton’s Connor McAleny pulled one back in the 67th with a low drive and then Francisco Junior smashed a wonder goal in the 81st.

Sunderland: Wilson, Ferguson, Marrs, Harrison, Mangane, Lynch, Gorrin, Laidler, Mitchell, Mandron, Noble.. Subs: McNamee, Dixon, Joyce, Honeyman, Holland.
