Lynden Gooch and Jordan Willis injury update as managerless Sunderland prepare for Burton

Andrew Taylor takes charge of Sunderland tonight for the visit of Burton Albion and he has confirmed he will be selecting from the same group that drew 1-1 with Fleetwood Town.

Phil Parkinson was sacked following that draw, with first team coach Taylor taking charge of tonight’s game as the search for a new manager goes on.

“Lynden [Gooch] and Jordan [Willis] are both still out, but they aren’t too far off returning,” Taylor said.

“Jordan was out doing a lot of running today, so hopefully he will be available for selection in the next week or so.

"Josh Scowen has a black eye from Friday evening, but he’ll be ready.

“Aiden [O’Brien] should be okay as well, but he picked up a slight knock in training yesterday and we’ll assess him in the morning.

“As it stands, it looks like we’ll be able to pick from the same group of players that were available against Fleetwood Town.”
