Liverpool’s Tiago Ilori will not provide a solution to Sunderland’s deadline day search for defensive reinforcements.
The Echo revealed back in March how Sunderland were watching centre-half Ilori, who spent last season on loan at French side Bordeaux.
Reports this morning indicated that Ilori was back on Sunderland’s radar as a loan target, with the Black Cats eager to boost a defence that has shipped 11 goals in the opening four games.
But Ilori will remain at Liverpool, with reports on Merseyside indicating that the 22-year-old was concerned that his first-team action would be limited at Sunderland.
However, after completing the £7.75million signing of Liverpool striker Fabio Borini yesterday, a defensive loan addition is understood to remain Sunderland’s priority on deadline day.
