According to the Southend Echo, Kelman was the subject of two six-figure deadline day bids from the Black Cats and Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

But both bids were knocked-back by Southend, who were keen to retain the services of the talented 18-year-old.

There were few complaints for Kelman, though, who is focused purely on helping lift Sol Campbell’s side away from relegation danger in the third tier.

“Having interest is nice but that’s not my concern,” said the striker, speaking to the Southend Echo.

“My concern is to finish the season with as many goals as I can and hopefully we can catch the teams above us.

“I also want to repay the faith of the manager, the staff and the fans.”
