League One line-up 2020/21: All the teams that Sunderland will play in their third season in the third tier

Sunderland have been sentenced to a third year in League One after Tuesday’s decision to curtail the current campaign – with eyes now turning to the 2020/21 season.

And with the fate of League Two also becoming clearer, the Black Cats now know a number of the teams they will be facing in the third tier next season.

While there are still play-offs to sort in League One and League Two, and relegation from the Championship also yet to be decided, we are now certain of some of the teams who will face Sunderland over the next twelve months.

Here, we take a look at the confirmed names who will be heading to the Stadium of Light next season:

The following teams are confirmed as taking part in League One in the 2020/21 season: Accrington Stanley, AFC Wimbledon, Blackpool, Bristol Rovers, Burton Albion, Crewe Alexandra, Doncaster Rovers, Gillingham, Ipswich Town, Lincoln City, Milton Keynes Dons, Peterborough United, Plymouth Argyle, Rochdale, Shrewsbury Town, Sunderland, Swindon Town

Three of these teams, who are currently competing in the League One play-offs, will also take part in League One in 2020/21: Fleetwood Town, Oxford United, Portsmouth, Wycombe Wanderers

One of these teams, who are currently competing in the League Two play-offs, will also take part in League One in 2020/21: Cheltenham Town, Exeter City, Colchester United, Northampton Town

Three teams will also join League One from the Championship. The teams currently in relegation danger include: Barnsley, Luton Town, Charlton Athletic, Hull City, Wigan Athletic, Middlesbrough
