League One festive fixture list thrown into chaos as Peterborough United join Sunderland in postponing THREE games

Posh have announced games against Ipswich Town, Gillingham and Charlton will all have to be rearranged after a Covid-19 outbreak.
It comes after Sunderland this week postponed their next three games against Shrewsbury Town, Blackpool and Hull City after five positive tests at the Academy of Light, with the training base also closed for the next 10 days.

Hide AdSunderland are not back in action until December 29 when they travel to Accrington Stanley and promotion rivals Posh face a similar wait until they are next in action.
It throws the festive fixture list into further chaos with several games now postponed over the coming 10 days.
A Posh club statement read: “Peterborough United can confirm that our scheduled Sky Bet League One fixtures with Ipswich Town, Gillingham and Charlton Athletic have been postponed.
“The club can confirm that an unnamed player has tested positive for Covid-19 and three others are displaying symptoms. The safety and health of our players is paramount. The club have notified the EFL of the postponements.

Hide Ad“The next scheduled league fixture is on 2nd January 2021 against Doncaster Rovers at the Weston Homes Stadium. The club will be making no further comment.”
Sunderland were due to travel to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday ahead of the home double-header next week against Blackpool and Hull City.
Clubs are now facing a major backlog of fixtures after Christmas in what was already a busy calendar given the season started late.
