Kamberi was one of several strikers targeted by then Sunderland boss Ross, the pair now reunited at Hibs after Ross was sacked by the Black Cats in October before quickly sealing a return to football management.

Kamberi has no regrets about not joining Sunderland.

He told The Scotsman: “I knew the manager from last summer because he tried to sign me for Sunderland. We had a chat about that but it was never that close.
