'Free him!': Sunderland fans fume as key man benched for Lincoln City clash
Phil Parkinson has named his Sunderland side to face Lincoln City – and supporters have been quick to react.
The Black Cats have gone four games unbeaten in League One and, following a 1-1 draw at Fleetwood Town in their last outing, Parkinson has made just one change to his side.
In comes Tom Flanagan, with Joel Lynch dripping out the side. Otherwise, it’s unchanged from the team that sealed a point at Highbury.
And supporters were quick to have their say on the selection, and especially the omission of some attacking talents.
Here’s what fans had to say about the team selection on social media:
@safcliving123 said: “Mcnulty is better than donkey wyke haway man”
@nicholaswilso11 added: “Free mcnulty”
@Chippy19772 commented: “Parky out no mcgeoch again and Wyke my god parky out”
@JJMoyes1879 tweeted: “5 at the back AGAIN...”
But @neil_ruttley argued: “To be fair to Parkinson it has been more 3-4-3 lately”
@MostHatedMackem posted: “Sorry but what does McNulty have to do to get a start?”
@markbol1972 added: “No mumba or kimpioka on the bench again.”
And here’s the team news in full from the Stadium of Light:
