The former Sunderland boss has been linked with a host of top flight jobs in recent weeks, and the Telegraph now claim that he is in pole position to succeed Manuel Pellegrini at West Ham United.

Moyes, who previously guided the Hammers to Premier League safety, is reportedly on standby to replace Pellegrini at the London Stadium – with the side have won just two of their last twelve in all competitions.

Indeed, the Telegraph claim that Pellegrini is already on ‘borrowed time’ at West Ham, whose hierarchy have identified Moyes as their leading candidate having shown a desire to appoint a British manager.

Everton were also considering a sensational swoop for Moyes before appointing Carlo Ancelotti earlier this month.

Moyes’ only season on Wearside was plagued with on and off-field issues, which led to the Black Cats suffering relegation from the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Sunderland striker Will Grigg does not look set for a return to former Wigan Athletic in the January transfer window.

That’s according to Alan Nixon of the Sun, who claims that the Latics have not shown any interest in bringing the forward back to the North West.

Grigg has endured a torrid time at the Stadium of Light since arriving in a deal worth around £3million last January, and has recently been linked with a loan move to League One rivals Blackpool.
