'The Bruce Effect!': Ex-Sunderland and current Newcastle boss Steve Bruce mocked as Sheffield Wednesday go top of Championship
Sheffield Wednesday fans are certainly enjoying life without Steve Bruce, whereas Newcastle United are the opposite.
The 58-year-old left Hillsborough to join Sunderland's bitter rivals last month and while the Owls have seemingly gone from strength to strength, the early signs on Tyneside have provided cause for concern.
Under caretaker manager Lee Bullen, Wednesday have won three of their opening four Championship fixtures and top the table after last night's 1-0 win over Luton Town.
And it is fair to say the Owls' promising start hasn't gone unnoticed around St James' Park and some of Bruce's former clubs, with many supporters taking to social media to voice their witty opinions.
"The Bruce Effect"? - Here is just some of the reaction from Twitter:
@Boothroyd86: Where are all the #swfc tears now? They got paid for us to take Bruce of their hands #NUFC
@OB1theGeordie: To #swfc you’re welcome! From #nufc, good luck for the rest of the season and at least give us a wave in May when you’re passing #stevebruce
@AndyB_81: Steve Bruce leaves and Sheffield Wednesday soar! Sure they don't want him back? I'm sure I speak for all Newcastle fans when I say I'd gladly send him back! #nufc #swfc #football
