SUNDERLAND midfielder Seb Larsson came off the bench to help Sweden to a 3-1 friendly victory over Iran last night.
Larsson was left out of the starting line-up for the clash at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, but was brought on two minutes before the break, following an injury to winger Emil Forsberg.
And the Black Cats man made an impact in the second half, producing the cross from which Ola Toivonen headed home Sweden’s killer third goal late on.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic headed the Swedes in front in the 11th minute then set up the second, nodding a Pierre Bengtsson cross down for Marcus Berg to score.
Iran, managed by former Manchester United assistant boss Carlos Queiroz, pulled one back when Javad Nekounam slammed in a penalty, but Larsson and Toivonen combined to ensure a home victory.
Now Larsson will return to Wearside to prepare for Sunday’s derby with Newcastle.
Ex-Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore was sent off in the USA’s 1-1 draw in Switzerland.
