Want-away Sunderland defender Lamine Kone could be set to leave the club, while a promising youngster may take his place.

As Jack Ross' side jetted off to Portugal last week, Kone was left on Wearside as he looked to seal a move away from the club.

The Ivorian has made no secret of his desire to leave the Stadium of Light and reports from France suggest that Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg are keen on the centre back.

Get French Football report that Le Racing had approached the Black Cats over a possible move for Kone, but were left 'discouraged' after learning of his asking price.

However, a number of other sides are thought to be keen on the former Lorient defender as Ross continues to shape his new-look squad.

A number of League One and Two clubs are thought to have been keen on a move for Bainbridge who comes with some good pedigree.

The 20-year-old progressed through the ranks at Goodison Park and featured regularly for the club's under-18 and under-23 sides before making the switch to Swansea last summer.

Bainbridge formed part of the Swans' under-23 side but departed the Liberty Stadium at the end of last season.

But he could find himself with a new club shortly as Sunderland are reportedly ready to swoop for the promising centre back.
