Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce handed a full debut to Jordan Pickford at the Emirates Stadium.

But how did the England Under-21 international get on after returning to the club from a loan spell at Preston North End?

Richard Mennear was on 'Pickford Watch':

First Half:

1: First touch of the ball and Pickford launches a gaol-kick high upfield to Danny Graham to set Sunderland off on an attack.

10: No nonsense from Pickford as he makes his first save, blocking Kieran Gibbs' close-range shot with his shoulder.

25: Joel Campbell equalises for Arsenal. Pickford could do little about the close range effort.

27: Gets down well to palm away a Theo Walcott shot that bounces just in front of him. Patrick van Aanholt clears the danger.

Consistently found a Sunderland player with his pin-point goal kicks. Duncan Watmore and Danny Graham the main beneficaries.

Second Half:

51: Produced a flying punch to clear the danger from a whipped in Arsenal free-kick. There wasn't any Arsenal player near him, mind, but he got the job done.

61: Pickford saved brilliantly from Campbell to deny Arsenal taking the lead. Stood up well and blocked the shot.

72: Ramsey scores from close range. Ball across the box, Pickford could do little about it.

75: Almost a carbon copy as Giroud slots home a third.

82: Got a strong hand to palm over Giroud's firm header, good save.

90: Called into action to clear danger from Jeff Reine-Adelaide. And then berated his defenders. Didn't take him long!

Overall, Pickford impressed on his full debut for the club. Made some excellent saves and his distribution was superb.

Expect him to keep his place for the Premier League match at Swansea City on Wednesday night after a really mature display.
