Sunderland summer target Jonathan de Guzman is expected to stay at Napoli after rejecting all interest from the Premier League.
Dick Advocaat confirmed last Friday that Sunderland’s interest in de Guzman was “dead” after the Black Cats had spent a fortnight tracking the Dutch international, who had dithered over a move to the Stadium of Light.
Like Sunderland, Premier League new boys Bournemouth had agreed a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent deal, with Italian side Napoli.
But de Guzman has rejected the chance to join Bournemouth and will now remain at Napoli.
However, the Serie A outfit made it clear that they wanted to offload de Guzman after they tried to resurrect a move to Sunderland, following his inital decision to reject the Black Cats’ advances.
