Jan Kirchhoff and Seb Larsson provided some excellent news for Sunderland boss David Moyes tonight by playing in the U23’s 2-0 win at Manchester United.
Both got on the scoresheet too, though Larsson’s goal came via a deflection.
The full games for both will have done wonders for their fitness after injury lay-offs - and both should soon be available for Moyes’ first team squad.
It was a good win for Andy Welsh’s side at the Leigh Sports Village.
Larsson, who worked hard throughout, smashed a 20-yard shot just over early on, but gave the Black Cats the lead just before the break.
The powerful Kirchhoff’s goal came on 59 minutes, firing home after being found by Rees Greenwood, who had rounded the United keeper.
