@StewHellens tweeted: “Points over performance. Mystified as to what Will Grigg has to do to get a look in.. However when we get 3 points (however we get them) I’m loathe to criticise PP too much. A win is a win, points on the board”

@NathanJ_C1 posted: “Fact remains that only Peterborough have taken points from as many games as us and they’ve played one more. If we had a more creative spark in midfield, we’d be pretty much there or thereabouts”

@davis0688 commented: “Another poor performance but suppose we have to take the win. Defo a pen, the law may be wrong but the decision was right. As for the Red, we weren’t incensed by it like we were on Sat and their players were shocked. Hard to tell on the stream but that gives me doubts”

@PeterJWhalen7 added: “Again, a poor performance, but another three points. Hopefully performances improve, because we won’t continue to get the rub of the green like this (eg opponents going down to ten and then being awarded a penalty. But, picking up points when playing poorly is a good sign”

@Buntingfootball said: “Feels like a big 3 points over a promotion rival, scrappy but it's what good teams do, grind out those wins, red card changed the game no doubt but for the majority of it Sunderland were comfortable. Pressed well from the start then died off a little but it's job done”

@jimmmyreay tweeted: “Done. Wasn’t pretty and we certainly rode our luck at times. Fundamentally tho Ipswich were second going into this and we just had to find a way to win, which we did. Tight games at the top often aren’t pretty but this was firmly in the ‘just win’ category. “
