'I know I will come back stronger faster and better' - Sunderland striker takes to Instagram to reveal injury blow

Benji Kimpioka has revealed he will be absent for a period after sustaining an injury while playing for the Under-23s.

The Sunderland striker, who signed a new contract this summer after a lengthy saga over the deal, featured for the Under-23s in the win over Aston Villa.

The exact nature of the injury has not yet been revealed, nor the length of time he is facing out.

But Kimpioka said he will now have to ‘face one of my biggest fears for the first time, an injury’. He added he is determined to come back stronger than ever.

Posting on Instagram, Kimpioka said: “Today is the day I will have to face one of my biggest fears for the first time, an injury. But there is no obstacle that can stop me.

"I am grateful that I’m facing this obstacle because I know I will come back stronger faster and better. Thank you God once again.”
