The Black Cats were set to travel to Prenton Park on Tuesday, January 28, yet the game will now be played one day later on Wednesday, January 29 (7:45pm kick-off).

It comes after Micky Mellon’s team beat Premier League side Watford in a third-round replay on Thursday night to set up a fourth-round home tie against Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will face Tranmere this Sunday with the game set to be shown live on BT Sport.

Sunderland will travel to Prenton Park to face Tranmere Rovers on Wednesday, January 29.

For that reason, the league game against Sunderland has been rearranged to give Rovers extra time to prepare.

Sunderland thumped Tranmere 5-0 at the Stadium of Light back in October to mark Phil Parkinson’s first win in charge of the Black Cats.
