Sunderland fans have called for Josh Scowen to be handed a start against Bristol Rovers on Saturday – after the midfielder claimed a goal and three assists in the win over Aston Villa.

Scowen’s corners helped Charlie Wyke bag a brace and saw Morgan Feeney nod home a debut goal, before the former QPR netted a goal of his own in the 8-1 win.

And having been omitted from the squad that faced Hull City last weekend, fans have called for Scowen to be given a chance against the Gas in the League One opener.
