IT will be interesting to see how Arsenal react on Saturday because Birmingham were massive underdogs in the Carling Cup final.
Everybody fancied Arsenal to end their five-year trophy drought although I wish Sunderland’s drought for a major trophy was that long!
As ever in football, it’s how you recover from a setback and hopefully it will be mentally tough for Arsenal this weekend.
Well done to Birmingham because it gives hope to teams like Sunderland, who are not the usual suspects when it comes to winning trophies.
I do like to see these trophies shared round and it proves what can be achieved if you take these competitions seriously. It might be a lesson for next season for Sunderland.
Arsenal against Barcelona in the Champions League was one of the best football games I’ve seen this season. That is what Arsenal can do when they are on form.
If they have got a weakness, it’s probably at the back. They’ve not got that Tony Adams-esque figure anymore to pull people together.
But you can’t help admiring their football and their pass and move is phenomenal.
There is a reason why they haven’t won a trophy in five years though and hopefully we can go there and get something.
I have to say that if I was offered a point now, I’d snap your hand off.
But our fans will go down there in numbers and have a wonderful day out – certainly until 3pm!
It is one of those places you look forward to going to and I am always impressed with the place.
Highbury used to be the same when I was playing, you always felt like you got looked after when you went to Arsenal.
