GUS Poyet named FOUR central midfielders for Sunderland’s crunch clash at Hull City tonight.
Without the services of Adam Johnson - suspended by the club pending an ongoing police investigation - and Ricky Alvarez only fit enough for a place on the bench, Poyet opted to name a starting XI of battlers at the KC Stadium.
Liam Bridcutt and fit-again Jack Rodwell came into the side, in an orthodox 4-4-2, with Santiago Vergini and Danny Graham also included, at the expense of Connor Wickham and Patrick van Aanholt.
Ex-Sunderland duo David Meyler and Ahmed Elmohamady both started for Hull.
HULL: McGregor, Bruce, Meyler, Huddlestone, Livermore, McShane, Jelavic, Dawson, Robertson, Elmohamady, N’Doye. Subs: Harper, Figueroa, Davies, Hernandez, Aluko, Ramirez, Quinn.
SUNDERLAND Pantilimon, Bridcutt, Brown, Cattermole, Larsson, Rodwell, Reveillere, O’Shea, Graham, Vergini, Defoe. Subs: Mannone, van Aanholt, Fletcher, Wickham, Gomez, Alvarez, Coates.
