Jack Colback says new Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has restored the belief in the side that was missing under Steve McClaren.
Colback grabbed a rare goal to earn the Magpies a 2-2 draw at Liverpool after trailing 2-0 at half-time.
Newcastle have shown some fighting spirit under Benitez recently, grabbing draws after trailing against Sunderland, Manchester City and now Liverpool.
They still sit second-bottom of the Premier League table, level on points with the Black Cats but with a worse goal difference and having played two games more.
But former Sunderland midfielder Colback said: “It’s a good point for us in the situation we are in.
"Every point counts and we had a good one against Man City. We wanted to keep the momentum going and we managed to do that.
“We just said we had to keep going and keep believing. There’s been times this season when we’d been in that position and lost it heavily. We managed to stay in it.
“The first goal in the first half was crucial, then we’ve managed to get the equaliser so it’s a great point for us. The belief is there now.
“We are working hard as a team which maybe we weren’t previously.”
