Steven Fletcher is in contention to make his Premier League debut for Sunderland at Swansea on Saturday.

And the £12million striker expects a stern test against Michael Laudrup’s men, who have won both their opening two games in impressive style, crushing QPR 5-0 and West Ham 3-0.

Fletcher, boosted by a first run-out of the season in Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup victory against minnows Morecambe, said: “Swansea are a good side and I’m looking forward to it.

“I’m not really surprised by how well they’ve done so far. You saw them last year and they played some good football.

“They’ve just kind of kicked on from there.

“They’ve got a new manager, but it’s more or less the same team.

“Obviously, they’ve proved they can score goals over the first two games, but then so can we.”
