The Premier League and EFL have suspended all professional football until at least April 3 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Governing bodies are set to hold meetings later this week to discuss plans for the remainder of the campaign.

Several proposals have been mentioned, with West Ham’s vice chairperson Karren Brady saying the season should be declared null and void if fixtures can’t be completed.

Yet Taylor is strongly against that idea, claiming it would be unfair on clubs which are fighting for promotion in the EFL.

"I think it would be unfair, not least of course on Liverpool,” Taylor told Sky Sports News.

"But all clubs who are doing well, they would be accused of, 'oh well you don't know if you would have won it or not'.

"It would devalue it and I think those clubs that have done well and are at the top deserve to be there.

"And those clubs who are at the bottom deserve to be given the chance to get out of trouble, because that's how the game's always worked and that's how the competition was at the beginning.

"So I think we should do all we can. I think it would seem really weird if we started a new season. It would be unfinished business behind us and I don't think that would look good."

There is also a possibility that this summer’s European Championships could be postponed to give clubs more time to finish the season.

After suspending the Champions League and Europa League, UEFA are set to hold an emergency board meeting on Tuesday to discuss the competition.

“I think it’s inevitable that club football will have to take precedence over international tournaments and international games,” added Taylor.

"I would expect the Euros to be put back, probably for a year. I would hope the season could be extended and we're flexible enough to deal with that.”
