Ex-Sunderland striker training with Middlesbrough amid League One and foreign interest

The forward, whose spell on Wearside was blighted by two serious knee injuries, was released by Sunderland this summer.

He has options both home and abroad and has been training with Championship side Boro this week, report Teesside Live.

Speaking earlier this summer, Watmore said: "I want to create some really good new memories on the pitch. Hopefully there is a club out there for me. Whether it be in this country or abroad, I am open to all ideas.
