FORMER Sunderland defender Matt Kilgallon has penned a two-year deal at Blackburn Rovers.
Kilgallon was released by Sunderland at the end of last season after the Black Cats opted not to extend the centre-half’s contract at the Stadium of Light.
Several Championship clubs were pursuing the 29-year-old, but Blackburn have won the race for the former Leeds man’s signature and he has already joined up with his new team-mates at Rovers’ pre-season training camp in Portugal.
Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer said: “Matt is a good signing for us. He will bring a lot of experience from playing in the Premier League and in the Championship.
“He’s left-sided and has the ability to play in a couple of positions for us, both at centre half and at left-back.
“We’re delighted that he’s agreed to join us and we look forward to working with him.”
