Tom Usher’s Echo Jury view
A POINT away from home in the Premier League is always a decent result.
There can’t be too many complaints about the starting line-up either because, with one exception, it’s the team I wanted to see.
David Vaughan can make things happen and should have started on the left instead of Colback playing, but it was still pretty much the right side.
However, the big issue now has to be the worrying lack of goals! One goal in four games does not fill me with much confidence. With only days left in the transfer window, I hope we’re looking to bring in a left-sided midfielder (which will continue to be a problem) and a striker.
Bruce is right not to throw Whickham and Ji in at the deep end, but we need to get somebody and he must be good. Darren Bent has, sadly, still not been replaced.
On a more positive note, the defence were tight again and it was good to finally see O’Shea. With a couple of signings, things can be quickly turned around and I still have a lot of optimism that we’ll have a good season.
It’s probably not going to get any easier in 12 days time, though, with Chelsea coming to town. Keep the faith.
