Echo Jury: Tom Usher reflects on last night’s thrilling win at Queens Park Rangers

Have your say

SUNDERLAND really put us through the ringer last night!

After controlling the game for long spells and having a two-goal cushion, it looked like we could cruise to an excellent away win.

But it wouldn’t be Sunderland if we didn’t make it difficult for ourselves. Conceding those two sloppy goals left hearts in mouths. We switched off for 15 minutes, let them get up a head of steam and paid the price.

But, over the course of the game, we were worth the three points and it was nice to get the deserved winner.

Initially, the team selection was a bit of a surprise with Cattermole coming back, but O’Neill knows best and Cattermole was impressive. Bendtner also looked more interested and lively than in the past few weeks – his movement for the first goal was excellent and shows what he’s capable of in the box.

Once again, Sessegnon was instrumental in making things happen going forward and his finish for his goal was very cool.

We now have a good chance for back to back wins on Boxing Day and start the ascent up the table, closing the gap on the Mags all the while.
