THE filling to our derby/cup quarter-final sandwich is a tasty one – a big game against a big club which will provide a big scalp for our confidence before we beat their city rivals next Saturday.
Liverpool will provide stiff oppostion, even with them not being the team they once were – despite winning the Carling Cup recently.
I don’t even think they’re the club they once were after their handling of the Suarez incident – the players, manager and board certainly went down in my estimations. Henderson will get a good reception but I only hope he’s as anonymous as he was in the Cup Final.
We just need to concentrate on our own game and we’ll be fine. The suspensions to Sess and Catts and injury to Richardson are unfortunate and they’ll be a big miss but we’ve got ready-made replacements to come in; Bridge in for Richardson, Colback to play the Cattermole role, Vaughan back into the fold and Gardner to fill Sess’s boots.
Or we could always play 4-4-2. Both good options for O’Neill meaning we can continue to flourish over the coming weeks.
Prediction: Sunderland 2 Liverpool 0
