Echo Jury: Three goals, three points – a happy day for our fans

Have your say

IT feels good to be writing about a win, especially one away from home. It may have come through the help of a refereeing decision but it is still three massive points, writes Ryan Doneathy.

Hangeland’s sending off was without doubt a turning point. It gave Sunderland a massive opportunity and we certainly made the most of it, even if we made it more challenging than it had to be.

Fletcher getting among the goals again was good, and it was great to see Sessegnon finally break his duck for the season. I thought Sessegnon was pretty underwhelming for most of the game but there was certainly nothing underwhelming about his goal, which was a beautifully-hit strike.

Despite having a man extra, we looked suspect in defence and substitute Mladen Petric caused us a few headaches. Fortunately, Simon Mignolet saved our skin on more than one occasion with our goalkeeper continuing to show why he is one of the finest in the league.

Danny Rose shone again at the back and hopefully we can turn his loan deal into a permanent one.

Three points on the road is fantastic, and sets us up nicely for two home games in a row.
