Echo Jury: Ryan Doneathy has seen this all before!

Have your say

IT was a case of Groundhog Day for players and supporters. The players once again were underwhelming and abject, with fans witnessing yet another spineless display from a side playing with zero confidence.

I thought once again captain Lee Cattermole led the team brilliantly. It’s just a pity the rest of the team didn’t follow his example, otherwise we’d have won the game.

Villa offered little, but still looked more of a goal threat than we did all game. Agbonlahor’s goal could have been avoided, with O’Shea’s positioning in particular being questionable.

The closest we came was a deflected shot from Cattermole, which sums it all up really. We’re struggling creatively, with Adam Johnson looking a completely different player from the one we signed from Manchester City. He looks short of confidence and his performances are suffering because of that.

McClean didn’t look much better when he came on, although, in fairness, he was occupied out of position for the majority of his cameo appearance.

We have to travel to Goodison Park next, to play our bogey side Everton. We haven’t won against the Toffees since 1996, and based on this form, we’ll have to wait another year.
