Echo Jury: Richard Smith reflects on Saturday’s draw with Wolves

Have your say

I THINK bore draw pretty much sums that up. It was awful throughout and it was clear that the majority of our team are looking ahead to either the Euros or their holidays.

It is easy to see why Wolves are bottom of the league as they are dreadful and with Steven Fletcher aside (who I would quite happily see in a Sunderland shirt next season) would struggle in the Championship.

We started brightly and had a few half chances early on without really making the Wolves keeper make a save. McClean had the best chance, following the best move of the game. Sessegnon played in the young Irishman, but his shot was the wrong side of the post.

The only other real chance of note fell to Larsson in the second half after the ball was put across the box. It seemed easier to hit the target than miss but his effort went sailing over the bar.

It is Villa next week and O’Neill goes back to his former club. Hopefully that will help to inspire the players a bit and we can get back to winning ways after going five games without a win.
