Echo Jury: Our panel of Sunderland fans are apprehensive ahead of the Aston Villa clash

Have your say

COMMON sense prevailed in the end over Wes Brown and I am glad as I feared the English game was in trouble with regards to tackling, writes Peter Quinn.

Our away record is very poor this season and mentally that must be playing on the minds of the players. Yes, we can sit here and say they get thousands of pounds a week and that they should able to be mentally strong – but, like me and you, they are only human after all.

But what we do expect is for them to play with passion and don’t give schoolboy goals away.

The 4-5-1 formation has it plus points but for me it just seems not going to get enough goals. How many times do we see Fletcher or Altidore do some great work only for it to come to nothing as no one is there to help?

I feel sometimes formation-wise Sunderland can be predictable. It was something that Paul Lambert said before last season’s 6-1 drubbing.

But Saturday is huge and Poyet will have to get this tactically spot on.

Prediction: Aston Villa 1 Sunderland 1
