Echo Jury: Our panel hope it’s a good time for Sunderland to be facing a faltering Manchester United

Have your say

WELL, we are still manangerless and we enter a game with the current Premier League champions, writes Peter Quinn.

I really hope Ellis Short and Margaret Byrne are doing some quality due diligence on potential applicants. For me, I don’t want Bally as manager. He is a club legend and I want him to stay like that – if everything went wrong the fans would turn on him.

I do think, though, that he should be promoted to a more senior role in the club.

On reflection, we played better than we have recently against Liverpool but we are very poor defensively and this costing us goal after goal.

Manchester United are full of quality and we surely have no chance of beating them. History proves it. So our season will start at Swansea away – but even that is a tall order.

Lee Cattermole is a warrior and we need 10 more showing his passion and commitment going forward. Altidore will yet again be up top on his own and the Italian pocket rocket will be playing the number 10 role.

Bally should drop Johnson and play Mavrias – he is young, pacy and has great ability. More importantly, he can beat a man and he can cross.

Prediction: Sunderland 1 Man Utd 2
