Echo Jury: Michael Tuckwell looks ahead to tonight’s clash at Wigan

Have your say

AFTER a fantastic start, are we in for a great year?

After enduring a turbulent year we Mackems are beginning to believe again.

A hard-earned win against top-of-the-table City has given us a sense that the season can be salvaged. If we begin to fly up the table, by the month’s end I may be brave enough to use the E word again ...

But first things first and we have to face a Wigan side who, ironically, may be the reason our season is saved. It was their humiliating last-minute win at the Stadium of Light which forced a change at the top.

What better way to show how far we have come in a short space of time than by repaying the favour and humiliating them at their place?

I have to admit I’m not a big Wigan fan. They shouldn’t be top flight – ask their 12 supporters and they’d tell you the same.

I can’t see much of an attacking threat from our strike force at the minute. Sessegnon is a fantastic little creative player, but his shooting boots look to be left at the cobblers and Bendtner is very inconsistent.

This result will come down to our midfield of Larsson, Vaughan and McClean – and I believe they are more than capable of doing the job.

Prediction: Wigan 0 Sunderland 3
